They would know she was human from her scent, of course, but It shouldn't make any difference to them if she was human or demon, or half-pig for that matter. Now that I had found my mate, I would be stronger, which meant the pack would be stronger. That was the most important thing as far as they were concerned.

And the most important thing for me was having Serena at my side.

~Serena~

It felt very strange to be applauded for being someone's girlfriend. I supposed that's what I was now? Saying I was Brax's mate still sounded strange to me, I couldn't quite bring myself to use the word.

Brax smiled at me as we sat back down, but he seemed distracted, and a gentle hand tapped my other shoulder. I turned to find a pretty, petite woman sitting next to me with a big smile on her face. She was beautiful, with long, dark hair, and I would have guessed she was a few years younger than me.

Her greeting came out as a bit of a squeal. “Hi! I'm Isabel, Tristan's mate.” I must have looked confused because she elaborated further. “You borrowed my clothes earlier this week.”

Of course, I remembered that. “Oh, thank you very much. I didn't know I was coming here that day, it was all a bit... unexpected.”

She waved her hand dismissively. “Don't worry about it. We women have to stick together. All these big men like to think they run everything, but we know who really gets things done.”

She grinned at me again and I couldn't help smiling in return. Her enthusiasm was disarming.

“I want to know everything about you, Serena Baker,” she continued. “Especially about how you met our Alpha. Oh, and what it's like to be the only human in a room full of werewolves. And what you're going to do when you become Luna. And...”

“Hold on,” I stopped her, laughing at the onslaught of words. “One question at a time.”

With a thoughtful rub of her chin, she decided on the first one. “Okay, let's start with Brax. Where did you meet?”

That was an easy enough one to answer. “At a nightclub in the city last weekend.”

“That's what I thought,” she said triumphantly. “Tristan wouldn't tell me, but I had a feeling something happened that night.”

“Was he there too?” I asked. I still wasn't sure which one Tristan was. There were so many men at the table.

“He was, though he assures me he was well-behaved.” She poked the man sitting next to her, who was in conversation with someone else, and he turned to her in protest.

“What did I do?”

“You didn't tell me about Brax meeting this lovely woman last weekend,” she accused him.

The man, who I now assumed was Tristan, looked over at me sheepishly before turning back to Isabel. “Sorry Izzy, but Brax didn't want us telling anybody, just in case it didn't work out.”

“I am not anybody, I am your mate, you selfish man,” Isabel admonished him, and in reply he leaned over and gave her a fervent kiss, effectively and immediately ending her protests.
